Announcements, week 14

  • Today, on Palm Sunday, Holy Week begins. The schedules for both the cathedral and St. James’s Church can be found on the notice board and on the website.
  • The Chrism Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, March 31 at 6 PM.
  • On the Holy Thursday we commemorate the Last Supper of the Lord and the institution of the Eucharist and the priesthood. This is a feast of all priests. Holy Mass in Finnish will be celebrated at 6 PM. After the Mass, there will be an all-night adoration in the chapel of the Blessed Sacrament. More information is available on the website and on the notice board, where there is also a sign-up list.
  • On Good Friday the Liturgy of the hours, Tenebrae, will be at 9 AM. The Stations of the Cross in English will begin at 11 AM, and the Celebration of the Lord’s Passion will take place at 12.00. The Stations of the Cross in Finnish will start at 2 pm, at the same time there will be an opportunity for confessions. The liturgy in Finnish will be at 3 PM. There will also be a Good Friday service at 3 PM in Tikkurila. Good Friday is a day of fasting and abstinence (Visit an external site. The link opens in a new tab.).
  • On the Holy Saturday the Liturgy of the hours, Tenebrae, will begin at 9 am. The blessing of food in Polish will be at 12.00. There will be an opportunity for confession starting at 9 PM. The Easter Vigil and the Holy Mass will begin at 10 PM.
  • On Easter Sunday, April 5, the church doors will open later than usual, at 7:45 AM. Masses will otherwise follow the usual schedule. Additionally, there will be a Mass in Vietnamese at 2 PM and a Mass in Tikkurila at 10 AM.
