On Friday, August 1st, the Catholic world marks a Global Day of Prayer for persecuted Christians. At St Henry's Cathedral Eucharistic Adoration will be held at 5.30 p.m., before the Evening Mass. The Göobal Day of solidarity and prayer is marked throughout the world and Bishop Teemu Sippo SCJ has asked all parishes in the Diocese of Helsinki to take part in the Day of Prayer. The situation has grown more and more untenable for Christians in Iraq, Syria and the entire Middle East. In Mosul in Iraq, the last few Christian families are now being forced to flee. Islamist militants have marked the houses where Christians live with the Arabic letter Nun, or N, for Nazarene - a derogatory term for Christians. |
