On Saturday May 3rd, 2014, the church acquired last year in Kuopio will be consecrated to St. Joseph, becoming the first Catholic church in modern times in eastern Finland and part of St Olav's Parish. Saint Henry's Cathedral Parish is donating a painting of St Joseph to the new church. The painting hung in the Cathedral Sanctuary until the reconstruction of 1962, after which the painting was eventually placed in the Parish Priest's Residence. Also about St Joseph's Church On Katolinen.net you can read the fascinating story behind the carving of the Madonna and Child that is already in place in the church in Kuopio. | Much more is needed to make it a proper Catholic church: a new High Altar, housing for the Tabernacle, kneelers for the benches, Confessionals, among other things.
