Bazaars![]() Caritas Finland
aina Every year, Caritas Every year, Caritas arranges a Palm Sunday Bazaar as well as a November Bazaar the week before the first Sunday of Advent.
The Finnish-Philippine Society also arranges bazaars a couple of times a year. Catechism![]() The Catholic religion is taught both in schools and in the so-called Saturday Course (Lauantaikurssi) at the English School. Sacrament Classes for First Communion and Confirmation is given in the parish (or parishes, in Swedish, as First Communion classes in Swedish are given at St. Henry's, while the Swedish-language Confirmation Classes are given at St. Mary's).
Participation in Sacrament Classes in the parish presupposes participation in classes at school or the Saturday Course. First Communion is generally received at the age of 8 or 9, while the Sacrament of Confirmation is administered around the age of 14. There is some additional information in English here. If you have questions, you can call the priests on 09-6224618. Catechism for Adults![]() Lay Dominicans offer Finnish-language Catechism classes for adults at the
Studium Catholicum. At the Studium, there are also English-language Catechism classes for adults. For more information please go to studium.fi Catholic Students' Club (CSC)![]() CSC – Catholic Students' Club is exactly what the name suggests, an English-language club for Catholic students. It meets up twice a month (on Tuesdays) from September through May, usually to pray the Rosary, attend Mass and spend time together. The dates are published in Fides and on our Programme page as well as on the CSC site, The programme for the autumn of 2013 is also available as a pdf file. Church Coffee![]() Church Coffee is regularly served from September to May after the 9.45 Mass and the High Mass at 11 o'clock. (Also see: Welcoming Team)
In the summer months, from the end of May through August, there are no Church Coffees on Sundays, but instead an evening coffee is served after the Wednesday Evening Mass. Introduction to Catholicism![]() The introductory course (Johdantokurssi) is a course in Finnish which is primarily aimed at people who are looking to join the Catholic Church. The course is given annually, beginning in September and ending in May. Meetings are held every other Monday at 6.30 p.m. New members are usually received into the Church on the Saturday before Pentecost, at the Evening Mass that day.

Lectio Divina![]() The group gathers in the priests' house at St. Henry's once a month, on a Thursday from 6-7 p.m. The group reads Scripture togheter, meditating and praying on the word of God, seeking the guidance of the Holy Spirit. Arranged by Silvia Bertozzi ocv.
Marriage Course![]() A Marriage Course is arranged for couples planning to marry, usually in the spring. In principle, the course is obligatory for the couples.
Parish Retreats![]() A parish retreat is usually arranged every autumn on a Saturday, running from around 10 a.m. throuh 3 p.m. The retreat programme usually consists of a spiritual lecture, lunch, Mass or prayers. Separate notification of the retreat will be posted.
Pilgrimages![]() On the Sunday a week before Midsummer a pilgrimage is arranged to the site of the martyrdom of Saint Henry, Patron Saint of Finland and our parish. The pilgrimage to Kirkkokari island in the lake Köylyönjärvi can be made on foot or by bus. Notifications will be posted regarding both. In August, there is a Diocesan Day which is celebrated on the Saturday closest to the Feast of the Assumption. Click here for information about this year's Diocesan Day. On the Saturday closest to September 14 the Exaltation of the Holy Cross is celebrated in the Medieval Church of the Holy Cross in Hattula. A bus is chartered for the pilgrimage to Hattula again this year. Sanctus Henricus![]() At present, four issues of the parish newsletter Sanctus Henricus are published annually. The newsletter contains information about parish events and staff notices. The newsletter is put together by volunteers. Seniors![]() A Seniors' Group meets at St. Henry's on the third Tuesday of the month from September through May. The meetings begin with a Mass at noon, which is followed by coffee in the Parish Hall, Sometimes there are talks given during the coffee.
