Streaming of Masses at St Henry's Cathedral

The Masses celebrated at St Henry's Cathedral can now be seen and heard live online. Via the page henrik.katolinen.fi/live you can attend a virtual Mass on Sundays as well as weekdays.

Welcome to the Bazaar in the Parish Hall before or after Mass on Sunday, January 22!

Thanks to the Filipino Community there is a Bazaar to help pay for the renovation of the Cathedral's statues, so come and enjoy some delicious food!

Statues returned to the Cathedral

The statues of St Henry, St Paul and St Peter have returned from renovation and are back in their niches in the facade of St Henry's Cathedral, just in time to mark the Feast of the Immaculate Conception today.

Statues Bazaar on December 4

On Sunday, December 4, the Ursuline Sisters are having a Bazaar in St Henry's Cathedral Parish Hall to raise funds for the renovation of the Cathedral's statues after the High Mass, which begins at 11 o'clock.

Come and buy books, kitchenware, paintings, textiles, convent-made delicacies and woollen socks.

Holy Door opened

Bishop Teemu Sippo SCJ opened the Door of Mercy in St Henry's Cathedral on Sunday, December 13, 2015. The Door of Mercy is part of the Jubilee of Mercy proclaimed by Pope Francis.

Jubilee of Mercy begins

The Jubilee of Mercy begins in St Henry's Cathedral with a Bishop's Mass at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, December 8, the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. On Sunday, December 13, the 11 a.m. High Mass begins with a procession from St John's Lutheran Church in Korkeavuorenkatu (see map below). When we reach the Cathedral, bishop Teemu Sippo SCJ solemnly opens the Door of Mercy, which is the main door of the Cathedral, and the Mass is celebrated there. This means that on December 13 there will be no Mass at 12.30.

More opprotunities for confession

During the Jubilee of Mercy there will be more opportunities for confession in St Henry's Cathedral. From Monday, December 14, there will be a priest in at least on of the confessionals in the Cathedral before every Evening Mass. After each Evening Mass we will also be praying the Chaplet of Divine Mercy. Welcome!

Report on the Cathedral's statues

Ukri Oy, a company specialised in building repair and restoration work , has spent part of this summer reviewing and cleaning the statues on the façade of St Henry's Cathedral. Some of the statues are in bad shape, so more work will have to be undertaken in the near future. Further information is available in the report produced regarding this summer's work. It is only available in Finnish, but it is liberally illustrated, so it is worth perusing even if you don't understand the text.
