St Henry's Cathedral Parish arranges a pilgrimage to Rome in March 2016 to mark the Jubilee of Mercy. Join us for a Papal Mass, Masses in the Basilicas of Rome and passing through the Holy Door of the Jubilee. Pilgrimage schedule: We fly Finnair from Helsinki at 16.30 on Tuesday, March 1, 2016, arriving in Rome at 18.55. The return flight from Rome leaves on Sunday March 6, 2016 at 19.55, meaning we are back in Helsinki at 00.20 at night (i.e. on March 7).
Sign up no later than December 5 by contacting Sister Barbara, either by e-mail at sisar.barbara@gmail.com or by calling 040 9644529. The number of places is limited so participation is in the order of enrollment.
For more information regarding payment and programme, please consult this pdf (in Finnish), the Finnish page about the pilgrimage or get in touch with Parish Priest Marco Pasinato (marco.pasinato@katolinen.fi or 050 5377775).
The pilgrimage begins with Mass at St Henry's Cathedral at 9.30 a.m. After the Mass, a bus will leave for Hattula from outside the Cathedral. You can also join the pilgrimage at the bus stop by St Mary's Church (the bus 18 stop).
The celebration of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross in Hattula begins at 12.30. After participants have paid their respects to the cross and carried it around the church building, the local Lutheran parish of Hattula traditionally serves coffee to the pilgrims. We will be back in Helsinki after 3 p.m. The return bus fare is €24. To sign up for the pilgrimage and ensure there is room for you in the bus, please contact the Parish Office. The pilgrimage is arranged by the Lay Dominicans and Academicum Catholicum.
This summer's date for the traditional pilgrimage to Köyliö to honour Saint Henry, the patron saint of our Cathedral, our Diocese and all of Finland, is Sunday, June 14. The bus to Köyliö leaves St Henry's Cathedral at 9 a.m. and stops at the bus 18 bus stop by St Mary's at 9.15-9.20. The bus fare is EUR 25 and is paid on the bus.
Both going to and coming from Köyliö the bus will stop for a coffee break in Humppila. Shopping is also possible. The Mass at the site of St Henry's martyrdom begins at 1 p.m. We will be ferried across to the island of Kirkkokari in boats or on rafts, the crossing fee is EUR 4. After Mass, the local village association sells excellent sandwiches and coffee for a reasonable price on the lake shore, so you will not need to pack a lunch. We will return to Helsinki around 6 or 7 p.m., depending on traffic. To sign up for the pilgrimage, please contact St Henry's Parish by calling 09-637853. Please state if you will be getting on the bus at St Henry's or St Mary's. Those interested in making pilgrimage on foot, please click here. The annual pilgrimage to Köyliö is approaching! Those who make the pilgrimage on foot begin walking from the town of Yläne on June 12 and arrive at Köyiliö - the site of the martyrdom of Bishop Henry, Patron Saint of Finland - on Sunday the 14th in time for Mass on the island of Kirkkokari in Lake Köyliö. The cost of the pilgrimage will depend on the final number of participants, but it will be €40-50. Please note that the fee covers food, sauna and housing, but not travel to and from Yläne/Köyliö.
